Let’s jump in!

Best 5 Apps to Learn ASL (American Sign Language)

After trying out a bunch of different apps myself, I finally found these 5 that can actually help you learn sign language.

1. Lingvano

Lingvano

Lingvano is one of the most popular apps for learning ASL (American Sign Language) and BSL (British Sign Language).

It offers daily video lessons made by deaf teachers, and if you stick with it just 10–15 minutes a day, you can become fluent in ASL over time.

One of the best things about Lingvano is that it’s available on both Android and iOS.

You can try Lingvano for free with limited features, and if you want the full experience, the premium plan costs $9.99/month.

2. The ASL App

The ASL App

The ASL App is another well-known option created by deaf teachers, and it includes over 2,500 signs and phrases.

It’s a great choice if you’re just starting because it’s super easy to use. Plus, you can download it on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

Basic learning on The ASL App is free, but to unlock more features, you’ll need the premium bundle, which starts at $4.99 per month.

3. ASL Bloom

ASL Bloom

ASL Bloom launched in Norway in 2022 and has quickly become one of the best apps for learning sign language.

It makes learning fun with daily video lessons, quizzes, and interactive games. You can find ASL Bloom on both Android and iOS.

One thing to note is that ASL Bloom doesn’t offer a free plan. You can’t pay monthly either—it only has quarterly and yearly plans. The quarterly plan costs $47.99, while the yearly plan costs $98.99.

4. SignSchool

SignSchool

If you want to learn sign language for free, then SignSchool is your best choice.

SignSchool offers daily video lessons, quizzes, and games that make learning ASL enjoyable and stress-free.

It’s completely free for everyone and available on the web, Android, and iOS.

5. italki ASL

italki ASL

If you want to learn sign language from a real, teacher, italki is a great place to start.

What I love about italki is that you get personal, one-on-one lessons with tutors who actually use the language every day. You can also join group classes and get access to things like assignments, podcasts, quizzes, and more.

Another nice thing is that you pay by the lesson, so you only spend money on what you need.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Duolingo doesn’t offer ASL, but there are plenty of great apps out there that can help you learn it. I’ve already shared some of the best ones for you in this blog post.
